Langley resides on the traditional, ancestral and unceded shared territories of the qʷɑ:nƛən [Kwantlen], Matsqui [mats-sqwee] and qicəy (Katzie) [kut-zee] First Nations, and is home to the Surrey-Delta Métis Association.

Slow down and explore at your own pace

Spend a day in Langley and you’ll find a mix of nature, culture, and community woven into everyday life. Start your morning with a walk through Campbell Valley Regional Park’s forested trails or explore the scenic grounds of Derby Reach. Spend the afternoon in Fort Langley where galleries, museums, and local shops line the streets along side the Fort Langley National Historic Site. Then finish your day by catching a show at the Langley Little Theatre or a professional sporting event at the Langley Events Centre.

Getting around the city

Langley offers a convenient and accessible transportation network that supports both commuters and explorers. Key routes like Highway 1, Fraser Highway, and 200 Street connect Langley to the rest of Metro Vancouver and the Fraser Valley.

The city continues to invest in active transportation, with expanding bike lanes, pedestrian-friendly pathways, and scenic greenways. Plans are underway to expand SkyTrain service into parts of Langley, enhancing connectivity and supporting future growth. Electric vehicle users will also find a growing number of charging stations throughout the community, making sustainable travel easier than ever.

Schools for your children

The Langley School District is home to over 30 public elementary and secondary schools, each recognized for strong academics and inclusive learning environments. The district offers specialized programs such as French Immersion, Fine Arts, and International Baccalaureate. Area Facts

Location

The City of Langley and Township of Langley are two bordering municipalities grown together, east of the city of Surrey and centrally located between the Lower Mainland and Fraser Valley economic regions. Located on the south side of the Fraser river with easy access to major highways, and approximately 45 minutes (47 km) from Vancouver’s city centre, Langley also borders Washington state, USA to the south.

Population

The City of Langley alone has a population of only 27,000. Including the Township of Langley and its populous rural suburban neighbourhoods, the entire Langley area is home to nearly 160,000 people. Langley, and its inclusive communities, have the fastest growing population in the Lower Mainland and Greater Vancouver areas.

School & Education

Langley City and the Township of Langley have a number of public and private schools from kindergarten through to grade 12.

Langley is home to two degree-granting institutions, Trinity Western University and Kwantlen Polytechnic University, and a number of continuing education and workplace skills training programs.

Key Industries

Langley is well known for farming, agriculture and food production. While more recently, the industrial and manufacturing sectors are increasingly moving out to the Langley areas from the city. Land development (construction), air transportation, education, film/television, retail and health care are also well-established and thriving industries.

The luxury of being two places (two municipalities) at once is that there are plenty of options from the bustling urban centre to an escape at a tranquil equestrian center. Visit Fort Langley, the Birthplace of British Columbia, explore numerous walking and biking trails throughout the city, visit the Greater Vancouver Zoo, or attend a Vancouver Giant’s game at the Langley Events Centre.

Langley Memorial Hospital

As a community hospital, Langley Memorial Hospital provides a range of primary, secondary and some specialty services, including 24/7 emergency, general and internal medicine, general surgery and select surgical specialities (such as orthopedic), critical care, obstetrics, pediatrics, and adult inpatient psychiatric care. Langley Memorial Hospital also offers day surgery and other ambulatory, outpatient services. Diagnostic imaging, inpatient and outpatient laboratory services, and a full service pharmacy support various hospital programs and their patients.

Langley Memorial Hospital has 180 beds. In 2016/17, Langley Memorial Hospital saw 47,272 emergency room visits, provided care to 10,542 inpatients and 10,510 surgical daycare cases, delivered 1,487 newborns, and had 76,792 visits to ambulatory care.
