I have worked as a nuclear medicine technologist at Abbotsford Regional Hospital and Cancer Centre since 2019. My day-to-day work includes preparing radioactive tracers for patient scans, administering them to patients, taking their images, as well as performing quality control (QC) on our gamma cameras.
I love the blend of technology and patient care. There is a ton of exciting research happening in the field of nuclear medicine right now, with new tracers being developed and new therapies being produced.
In the last few years, I have grown a lot in my career working at Abbotsford Hospital. It’s a high-volume hospital which has allowed me to gain a ton of experience. I now feel confident handling whatever comes my way. During the times it gets busy, my team works really well together. We always help each other out in order to get the best images possible for our patients.
Working at Fraser Health, I love the [extended] health care benefits! Having the coverage to see a registered massage therapist (RMT) is great for my wellbeing.
Fraser Health is the heart of health care for over two million people in 20 diverse communities from Burnaby to Boston Bar on the traditional, ancestral and unceded lands of the Coast Salish and Nlaka’pamux Nations and is home to 32 First Nations within the Fraser Salish region.
