I started working as a diagnostic medical sonographer at Eagle Ridge Hospital in November 2023. Depending on the day, I provide both general and cardiac ultrasounds, performing various scans of the body or echocardiograms, scanning of the patient’s heart. The majority of my work day involves performing scans, restocking patient care rooms and helping my team with anything they need.
I feel lucky to have a really great team. My supervisor and coworkers are very supportive and helpful. Even though we have our own patients and tasks for the day, the team works together to help one another out and checks in to make sure everyone is doing well. The support I get from my team is what I find to be most special. Having great coworkers has allowed me to build connections and be in a positive work environment.
My advice to anyone considering a career in health care is to join the team! It’s a very supportive workplace where I have been able to grow and have consistently learned and improved my skills. I think if anyone who is willing to learn and make connections, they will be successful and warmly welcomed.
