“I first started as a pharmacy assistant with basically no hospital pharmacy experience. Since being hired and trained, I’ve really grown as an assistant and will soon become a licensed technician. What I love most about my career is the variety of work, such as picking drugs to be delivered, delivering drugs, preparing arrest carts and emergency kits. Recently, we went live with the Anesthesia Workstations (AWS) in the operating rooms.”
AWS is a new initiative that offers improved, real time medication inventory management and safety. This includes improvements to the distribution of controlled substances and brings dispensing to the point of care.
“We have great medical and dental benefits, paid vacation and the ability to trade shifts with fellow coworkers. I recommend to anyone considering a similar position not to be afraid to ask for more training if needed and always ask for help.
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time in nature doing things like going for long walks, small novice hikes and bike riding. I also enjoy swimming. I do my best to have a balanced work and personal life. I eat well, exercise and make an effort to do some type of physical activity. I live around lots of greenery, with parks and trails nearby. I’ve lived in this area for more than a year, and it feels like home to me.”
My colleagues are absolutely amazing and we work hard collaborating with other pharmacists, nurses, and physicians towards the common goal of best possible patient care.
I can honestly say that I love my job and I love serving the beautiful sunshine coast!
I feel very fortunate to be a part of this tight-knit community. It is the perfect place to raise my family. We spend most of our free time exploring the many stunning beaches this area has to offer, and as much time as possible at our family cabin on the lake.”
