More career tips Alix shares:

  • Listen beyond words. The ability to “read the room” and adjust accordingly is a leadership superpower! People reveal far more through tone, pauses, and body language than their words alone.
  • Master the art of EQ. Self-awareness and empathy will set you apart in every professional interaction.
  • Stay in rooms where you’re not the smartest. If you’re always the most knowledgeable person in the room, you’re in the wrong room. Surround yourself with those who push you to think bigger. Be a lifelong learner.
  • Resist the temptation to rush your career progression. Focus on building a strong foundation of skills and experiences at each career stage. Taking the time to gain a deep understanding of organizational dynamics will better prepare you for leadership roles in the future. Patience and a thorough understanding of the intricacies of succession and organizational success will contribute significantly to your sustained success over the course of your career journey.
  • Cultivate self-awareness to recognize your strengths, weaknesses, and blind spots. Developing these “soft skills” is pivotal for building strong relationships, fostering a positive workplace culture, and navigating challenges with resilience.

Outside of work, Alix enjoys outdoor adventures, staying active, spending time with family and exploring the world through travel – having visited 38 countries and counting!
