As a registered nurse, my role is to assess patients both physically and emotionally. I love being able to build that connection with the patients, it allows me to provide great patient care while advocating for them. Being in this role, you get to know a diverse range of people with their own life experiences, stories and adventures.
Working at Eagle Ridge Hospital on the medicine unit, we have a great team of strong people. I am grateful to be working alongside each and every one of them. Everybody is there and willing to help each other out without having to ask. My coworkers are one of the main reasons why I have been successful in my position. From the first day I started on the unit, it felt like home and I was part of the team.
Professionally, I believe I’ve been able to grow with the implementation of the MEDITECH Advance project. We can develop our skills with technology and find information faster – allowing us to spend more time with the patients. I have also had opportunities to enrich my leadership skills as the charge nurse and patient care coordinator. Fraser Health has so many opportunities to discover if you want to explore new areas of work. I would recommend to not hesitate and apply!
When scheduling vacation time, it’s relatively easy with the flexible work options. You have the ability to swap shifts with peers which has helped me balance my work and life schedule. I have lived in the city my whole life, but when I moved to the suburbs, it really made me discover nature a lot more. During the summer months, we love going on boat rides with friends which is very accessible from where I live.
