My current role as a registered psychiatric nurse (RPN), case manager in the Mental Health and Substance Use (MHSU) program allows me to work in my full scope of practice. I find myself learning and gaining knowledge from working with my clients and colleagues. The work can be both complex and rewarding. I love that I have the opportunity to provide support to others and share in their successes.
Our team has many excellent multi-disciplinary clinicians who collaborate and encourage each other. We all work together and bring our individual skillsets as nurses, social workers and clinical counsellors to help assist with meeting our client’s specific and unique needs. We support each other through discussion and dialogue we encounter in our day-to-day work which helps create a supportive workplace culture.
Working in the Tri-Cities area, I enjoy the people and diverse population. It’s a wonderful family-friendly place with excellent programs and infrastructure – there is something for everyone.
If you have a passion for helping others along their mental health journey, there are multiple roles and positions in the MHSU program to support our communities. Ranging all ages from young to mid-life and older adults – all of which are rewarding and fulfilling.
The lower mainland is truly enviable in its diversity in the landscapes, culture and beauty. A growing metropolis that seeks to balance the cosmopolitan with conservation and respect for nature. My family and I enjoy spending time in the multitude of parks, trails and beaches in and around our area. Being outdoors is an important wellness tool, whether it be enjoying an outdoor walk on a trail or park or participating in our local community garden.
