What is an Urgent and Primary Care Centre?
Fraser Health’s UPCCs are medical facilities that provide ongoing medical care and/or timely care for urgent, non-life-threatening injuries and illnesses that should be seen by a health care provider within 12 to 24 hours, but do not require the level of service or expertise found in an emergency department.
Our close-knit primary care teams prioritize a team-based care model and actively collaborate to deliver timely, culturally safe and person-centred quality care within their communities.
UPCC work provides a well-balanced blend of family medicine and urgent care, providing diversity and complexity in your daily work. And when you join us, we will provide training in urgent care skills, such as point-of-care ultrasound performed in everyday practice.
There is also room for you to explore special interests and to dedicate time to working with unique populations while contributing to better health outcomes. Higher medical acuity and complex patients keep skills current with an emphasis on evidence-based medicine.
There are 10 UPCCs located throughout our health region with more primary care services coming soon: Surrey-Newton, Surrey-Whalley, Ridge Meadows, Abbotsford, Port Moody, Burnaby-Metrotown, Burnaby-Edmonds, Langley, Chilliwack and Mission.
