“In 2023, I started as a Mental Health and Substance Use Clinician at Fraser Health. In my role, I support my clients by listening to their story and matching them with the appropriate group therapy services. I love that I can connect with clients on a fundamental level and help them decide on what approach is best suited for their recovery journey. I enjoy the work that I do as it allows me to interact with some of the most honest and down-to-earth people.
I work within a very cohesive team that supports each other and I learn a great deal from my colleagues. The development of the program that I am currently working in is currently in transition and the amount of teamwork that occurs is spectacular. I have grown so much within my profession due to the supportive nature of my colleagues, coordinator and manager. I have been able to express my successes and concerns freely which has helped me learn and grow within my role. I couldn’t have asked for a more supportive and caring leadership team. They support my growth and encourage me to develop my knowledge and skills.
If I could offer advice to someone considering a similar position, or employment with Fraser Health, I would tell them that it is a great place to work and grow.
Working in the Fraser Health region, I love the fact that no matter what direction you go, you can always find a beautiful outdoor space to enjoy. I love to hike and find there are many options to choose from!
I live in New Westminster and love that it is central to shopping, restaurants and recreational activities. The community I live in is very quiet and where many of the residents know each other by name. You don’t find that often in a metropolitan area.
To maintain a healthy work-life balance, I make sure to engage in outside activities like dining out with family and friends or going hiking in nature.”
Fraser Health is the heart of health care for over two million people in 20 diverse communities from Burnaby to Boston Bar on the traditional, ancestral and unceded lands of the Coast Salish and Nlaka’pamux Nations and is home to 32 First Nations within the Fraser Salish region.
