I started my career as an outreach support worker in the Toxic Drug Response and Priority Populations (TDRPP) program at Fraser Health in 2016. I love the teamwork and the shared passion within my team for supporting our vulnerable populations. We have the opportunity to support people who are exposed to toxic drug supply within the community by helping them access services, offer harm reduction and treatment options.

At Fraser Health, we’re provided a safe, supportive environment with regular check-ins that help to ensure that I’m taken care of both personally and professionally. We also have access to training and services when I’m in need of support.

I highly recommend this type of work to anyone if you’re empathetic and have the ability to meet people where they are at—without judgement. It’s emotionally challenging but it will be the most rewarding thing you will ever do, and it will make you a better person all around. Throughout my career, I have developed a deeper sense of empathy and patience, while becoming more resilient and adaptable in navigating tough situations.

The mountain views are breathtaking in the Fraser Valley. In my free time, I like to enjoy the local farms and lakes. Over the years, I have lived in many areas in the Lower Mainland, but there is something special about Abbotsford and feeling so close and connected to nature and the mountains. I spend a lot of time outside in nature with my daughter and husband. We enjoy our long walks and local parks with lots of great restaurants along the way!
