I love being a part of the critical care team at Surrey Memorial Hospital (SMH). We have a really unique culture of teamwork and collaboration. I feel like I’m a valued member of the team and am able to provide a unique clinical perspective.
The pandemic has thrown a lot of clinical information at us in a very short period of time. We have to sift through a lot of literature and assess its quality and relevance to patient care, and determine if we [need to] make modifications to our practice. The adaptability to emerging literature and our own clinical observations and collaboration of our team is something I am really proud of. We strive to provide the best care possible to our patients and I think we have done that under very challenging circumstances.
Pharmacists are an integral member of the patient’s health care team. If you’re considering a career as a pharmacist, there are so many avenues of practice [to work in] – explore [many] areas before deciding which stream of practice suits you best.
I live with my husband and two daughters in North Delta. We love spending time in our neighbourhood and going for walks and bike rides in the Watershed Park and down at Mud Bay. We also love to ski at the local mountains (although I think the kids think the fries and hot chocolate are the best part).
We moved to North Delta from East Vancouver when we wanted more space for our growing family. We explored every area from North Vancouver to Coquitlam looking for a place that would fit our lifestyle and commute. We had never been to North Delta before, but as soon as we pulled off the highway and drove up through the large trees, we knew we’d found our forever neighbourhood. We have amazing neighbours and live near a great school – we couldn’t ask for a better place to live!
Outside of work, “I tap dance at the Rhythm Room in Vancouver and perform with a group called 5/4 Rhythm. We are all working professionals that grew up dancing and have continued on as adults
