“My team provides in-home rehabilitation for individuals who are homebound and who have been recently discharged from the hospital. It has been amazing to see the progress the clients have made and their excitement to be able to live their life to the fullest! I love that I get to meet different people everyday from various walks of life and different cultural backgrounds.
In my time at Fraser Health, I have learned to be more patient and understanding, which has served me greatly both professionally and personally. In particular to my role in home health, I’ve had opportunities to come up with creative solutions to help clients manage their own home environment – which is great experience when helping my own family members.
My advice to anyone seeking a career path in occupational therapy is to keep an open mind and gain experience in as many different settings as possible. You will enjoy the flexibility to help clients in their own homes, and you may be surprised with where your passion lies!
I love living and working in the area of Surrey because of the accessibility via transit or walking, diverse cultural, great local parks for lunchtime walks, and wonderful options of takeout for staff lunches. I am very passionate about serving the community I live in!”
Fraser Health is the heart of health care for over two million people in 20 diverse communities from Burnaby to Boston Bar on the traditional, ancestral and unceded lands of the Coast Salish and Nlaka’pamux Nations and is home to 32 First Nations within the Fraser Salish region.
