“As a Clinical Pharmacy Specialist in the Emergency Department at Surrey Memorial Hospital I work collaboratively with doctors, nurses, and other members of our interdisciplinary allied health team. I feel incredibly lucky to have been able to face [the pandemic] with such a skilled, dedicated, and compassionate group of health care professionals.
Whether it be in a trauma bay or the Care, Assessment and Treatment Zone (CATZ), each day I do my best to ensure that patients receive the safest and most effective medications based on their unique individual characteristics and needs.
Patients often feel overwhelmed and have questions after being started on new medications. I find it very rewarding to be able to use my expertise to help them understand why their medications are important, what side effects they may experience, and to help them improve adherence with their medication regimen by assisting with the transition of care from hospital to the community.”
