Bring your clinical expertise and passion for providing quality, compassionate care to a challenging and rewarding role as a Primary Care Nurse Practitioner supporting patients with Mental Health and Substance Use disorders. In this position you will be working with the Maple Ridge Wellness Centre team and as part of this rewarding community role provide outreach and connections with community partners supporting vulnerable patients. Are you flexible, have experience and/or interest in working with patients experiencing Mental Health and Substance use disorders? Strong mentorship in place to provide guidance and support you building your knowledge, confidence, and competence.

Do you want to be part of our new and exciting post graduate up to 6 month nurse practitioner residency program?  You will receive in depth in house advanced training within a clinical area relevant to the position, improve your team collaboration and develop a model of patient centred care.  This is your opportunity to consolidate your nurse practitioner education with a team helping to support your successful transition into independent practice. 

During your residency, you’ll receive:

  • Mentorship in multiple clinical areas
  • Dedicated clinical supervision during clinical placements
  • Protected time for self directed learning relevant to your clinical practice
  • Coaching from a consistent experienced nurse practitioner throughout your residency
  • Individualized support in transitioning to independent provider

The responsibility and accountability for the comprehensive assessment of patients/clients/residents including diagnosing diseases, disorders, and conditions is key to this role.

The ability to initiate treatment including health care management, therapeutic interventions and prescribe medications in accordance with the statutory and regulatory standards, limits, and conditions, and employer policies and procedures. As Nurse Practitioner you will provide professional mentorship to other health providers and practices autonomously and interdependently within the context of an interdisciplinary health care team, making appropriate referrals.

The position collaborates with patients/clients/residents and multi-disciplinary teams to identify and assess trends and patterns that have implications for patients/clients/residents, families and communities; develops and implements population and evidence based strategies to improve health and participates in policy-making activities that influence health services and practices. The position participates in peer review and self-review to evaluate the outcome of services at the patient/client/resident, community and population level.

  • Prescribing drugs within regulatory scope for Nurse Practitioners and within applicable standard methodologies set by Fraser Health.
  • Be involved in the ongoing care and order appropriate screening diagnostic investigations while you interpret reports of investigations and analyzes information and plan patient treatment.
  • Working closely with nursing, physician assistants, and surgeon in the outpatient clinic.

Are you motivated to join us? We will be looking for you to have:

  • Current practicing registration as a Nurse Practitioner or eligibility to register as a provisional Nurse Practitioner with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM)
  • Recent relevant clinical nursing/nurse practitioner experience
  • Completion of  Provincial Opioid Addiction Treatment Support Program Course (POATS-P) an asset
