Position Highlights:

We have an exciting opportunity for a Casual Licensed Practical Nurse/Orthopaedic Technician in our Orthopaedic/Plastics Clinic at Langley Memorial Hospital located Langley, BC.

This role gives you the chance to perform assessments, implement and evaluate nursing care as well as deliver care to orthopaedic patients including applying, adjusting and removing of casts and splints under the direction of a physician.

Your specific job duties will include:

  • Assessing patient/resident/family’s actual and potential strengths and limitations including physiological, psychological, socio-cultural, and spiritual needs.
  • Providing a supportive environment for patient/resident/family. Promoting patient/resident/family involvement in health care decisions; providing information and opportunity to discuss concerns; respects personal choices.
  • Documenting and updating all relevant care and procedure information to ensure patient safety and comfort.
  • Participating in continuous quality improvement and program evaluation activities, education sessions, team conferences, meetings and committees.
  • Under the direction of a physician, removing sutures and pins related to external fixation; removing dressings and assesses wounds prior to cast application; preparing and applying splints and bandages for various conditions.

To join our team, we will be looking for:

  • Graduation from both a recognized program in Orthopaedic Technology and a Practical Nursing Program;
  • Current practicing registration as a Licensed Practical Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nursing Professionals (BCCNP)
  • Current registration with the Canadian Society of Orthopaedic Technicians;
  • Two years' recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
