We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Clinical Ethicist in our Ethics and Diversity Services department.

Why is this role important?

You will work collaboratively with the Fraser Health Ethics and Diversity Services team to improve the health and well-being of those served by, and improve the well-being and practice excellence of those serving through, Fraser Health to enable living with integrity. You would do this with the team by supporting good patient care decisions in difficult situations and building integrity and preserving identity through greater self-awareness, understanding of the other, and ability to use values-based methods to solve problems respectfully in the context of difference.

In the Clinical Ethicist role, you will:

  • Provide Clinical ethics consultations to Fraser Health staff , patients and families in Fraser Health region to make ethically appropriate decisions according to our process and within established service standards
  • Lead education, training, and coaching to help staff on the process of ethical decision-making.
  • Develop ethics resources to help staff, patients and the organization to manage common clinical ethical issues.
  • Work with senior leadership to provide regional guidance to clinicians, managers and directors to ensure that Fraser Health is a leader in the provision of clinical ethics services.
  • Implement and refine clinical ethics evaluation processes and analysis, in collaboration with the Senior Leader, Clinical Ethics.
  • Build capacity within the organization by working with Senior Leader, Clinical Ethics in establishing, training Ethics Consult Team (ECT) and implementing ECT model across Fraser Health region.

Are you motivated to join us? We will be looking for you to have:

  • PhD in Bioethics or related discipline
  • Five (5) to Seven (7) years’ of experience providing clinical ethics consultation in a complex health care environment
