Join us at Fraser Health as the Patient Engagement Specialist, Strategy for Patient-Oriented Research (SPOR) based in Surrey, BC. This role is responsible for implementing and evaluating the patient engagement strategy for patient-oriented health research in the Fraser region with all research stakeholders, including patients, family and friend caregivers, academic researchers, clinicians, policy makers, decision-makers, other health organizations, academic institutions, and not-for-profit community organizations. This role directly supports research teams in patient engagement planning and implementation, including team training and patient partner recruitment.

In this full time position, your responsibilities include:

  • Develop, implement and evaluate a patient engagement strategy in alignment with the Regional Centres overall operating plan so that the continuum of patient engagement is represented
  • Develop and/or implement standard operating procedures for patient engagement according to national and international standards in the Fraser Regional Centre
  • Provide team building support to SPOR partners for engaging in patient-orientated research by ensuring the roles and responsibilities of the participating patients are clearly defined and that the patients are reimbursed and compensated according to guidelines
  • Mentor and consult with research teams and Department of Evaluation & Research Services (DERS) staff to develop research proposals that are aligned with external and internal funding requirements

Here is what we would like you to have:

  • Baccalaureate Degree in a health science related field;
  • 5 years’ recent, related experience in program evaluation, community capacity building or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience;
  • Valid BC Driver's License and access to a personal vehicle for business related purposes.

We will give preferences to those who have:

  • Knowledge and understanding of citizen/community engagement strategies and methods.
  • Project management experience including planning, implementation, reporting, observing and evaluation.
  • Ability to facilitate meetings and workshops and to deliver learning materials.

This Temporary Full Time position is located at Central City in Surrey, B.C.
