This is an exciting opportunity to be an ambassador for the “Strategy for Patient-Oriented Research” (SPOR) initiative at Fraser Health.  This role involves working closely with other members of the team located at the BC SUPPORT Unit Fraser Centre in Surrey.

In this key role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Play an active strategic role in the development of new relationships and strengthening existing relationships with Centre clients who wish to conduct patient-oriented research, including those with patients, patient-oriented not-for-profit public organizations, academic researchers, Fraser Health researchers, clinicians and decision makers and Divisions of Family Practice by networking, partnering, collaborating, liaising, and connecting parties with similar interests.
  • Provide guidance to affiliated academic researchers and Fraser Health researchers on the most effective and efficient path to research approval and implementation, including processes for obtaining research ethics approval, obtaining access to data and research-related services provided by Fraser Health departments and the provision of research development support for obtaining funding and developing research proposals.
  • Ensure patient-oriented research teams are trained in the conduct of patient-oriented research and in knowledge translation (KT) skills.
  • Track and report on Centre activities, and provide metrics in accordance with BC SUPPORT Unit requirements.
  • Ensure resources are in place to implement patient-oriented research studies in Fraser Health sites.

Pivotal to being successful in this position will be:

  • A functional understanding of the health research process and the steps involved in the research and knowledge translation cycles.
  • Experience in developing study protocols and grant applications.
  • A functional knowledge of project management principles and ability to manage research teams.
  • Demonstrates understanding/training on the research ethics process, research integrity, completion of the Tri-Council Policy Statement 2 (TCPS2) training and other rules, regulations and guidelines that govern the conduct of high quality health research.

As the successful candidate, you possess:

  • A Master's degree in a health science related field
  • Five (5) years of recent, related experience in a clinical, health services, population health research capacity or working with health system collaborators on health research teams.
