Our new Urgent Care Response Centre, slated to open in July 2019, will be located on Surrey Memorial Hospital’s health services campus.  This new facility is an outpatient centre that will provide the ideal support team and environment with better coordination of mental health and substance use services, more timely care with extended hours, low-barrier access, and a multi-disciplinary team approach. It will be a welcoming, therapeutic environment with a focus on managing the client’s crisis, building coping skills and resilience, building a treatment plan, and connecting the client to the most appropriate service.

We currently have an part-time opportunity for Mental Health Clinicians at this location and invite you to apply.

Build on your education and experience as you:

  • Provide treatment and support for complex situations to clients and natural supports including people in crisis by collaborating with them to develop and implement recovery-oriented treatment options and plans.
  • Provide guidance regarding abilities related to activities of daily living; discharge and transition of care.
  • Participate in clinical research and program evaluation activities relevant to the needs of clients, families, hospitals, and the community, as requested by the Manager/Coordinator.
  • Gather client information/history including seeking additional background information in person, via phone interviews or other methods to assess client mental health status and risk to themselves or others. Collaborates with the interdisciplinary team to determine the best approach to care, and assesses the need for emergent crisis intervention.
  • Carry out responsibilities in accordance with health and safety requirements.

To join the organization we require you to have:

  • Master’s Degree in Social Work, Counselling Psychology
  • Eligible for registration with relevant professional association
  • Two (2) years’ recent, related experience working with clients and families with, or affected by, mental illness and substance use disorders
