We have an exceptional leadership opportunity for a Director, Public Affairs role to support Fraser Health's mission to improve the health of families living in the largest and fastest-growing region in BC. Your leadership, savvy and proven experience will drive the public affairs strategy for Fraser Health (FH).

We are seeking a well-rounded, strategic communications professional leader with expert community, media relations and issues management knowledge.

  • Ensure balance and objectivity in conveying health care issues to increase awareness and public confidence in Fraser Health.
  • Provide strategic and tactical media relations and communications guidance to the FH Board, Executive team and leaders.
  • Lead the development and planning of media relations, communication strategies, and tactics that support FH-wide program and initiatives.
  • Implement and evaluate strategies to ensure they factor in public opinion and the interests of FH, its various partner agencies, the Ministry of Health, and provincial government.
  • Liaise with government, media, other health authorities, regional boards, partner agencies and other external agencies regarding common issues and announcements.

You excel at facilitating consensus with others and showing the initiative necessary to get the job done right. As a dynamic communicator and project manager, you will have an opportunity to develop creative strategies and lead your team to successfully deliver high-quality communication products. You are also a strong leader and manager who can problem solve with diplomacy and a global perspective. You have a sound knowledge of communication concepts, strategies, and technical skills thorough knowledge of current trends in writing, graphic/photographic arts, display/exhibit development and electronic communications.

Are you motivated to join our team? We will be looking for you to have the following:

  • Master's degree in Communications, Public Relations and/or other related discipline.
  • Plus 10 years' recent related corporate communications experience including 5 years’ experience in progressively more senior management/leadership roles in a large, multi-union and/or public sector environment.
