Build on your career experience by:

  • Providing leadership and clinical support in the delivery of patient/family care to a multi-disciplinary team
  • Administrating, overseeing, and coordinating the delivery of care for the assigned units/programs
  • Administrating the budget
  • Overseeing, reviewing, and revising policies, procedures and standards
  • Taking part in hiring staff
  • Coordinating the work of and supervising the Patient Care Coordinators and designated staff
  • Making training/staffing development decisions and conducting performance evaluations
  • Supporting the integration of the assigned units within the overall department/program by evaluating the accessibility of the programs
  • Providing work direction related to access and flow to Patient Care Coordinators within and/or across the assigned unit/programs
  • Performing a leadership role in front-line decisions related to daily patient flow, logistics and issue resolution


Your background includes:

  • Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing
  • Recent 5 years' related clinical experience in the designated clinical area inclusive of a minimum of two (2) years’ experience in a supervisory/administrative capacity
  • Completion of post graduate course work and/or certification applicable to the designated clinical area
  • Current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nursing Professionals (BCCNP)


This role is a full-time position located at SMH in Surrey, BC. SMH is a 611 acute care bed, University of B.C. Affiliated, regional referral and community teaching hospital that has the busiest emergency in B.C. Located in Surrey, it is one of Canada’s fastest growing cities and its land mass makes it the largest city in the province. Known as the City of Parks, Surrey has over 6,000 acres of parkland and 15 golf courses and driving ranges. Despite rapid growth, Surrey has held onto the rural flavour of its past, with about 35 per cent of its land designated as agricultural and still actively farmed.


SMH offers medical, surgical, neonatal intensive care, tertiary, ambulatory, cardiology, rehabilitation, as well as 24/7 emergency services with 158,558 visits annually.
