We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Clinician who has experience with Geriatric psychiatry clients to work at our community Mental Health and Substance Use Services in Hope/Agassiz, British Columbia. This is a relief full-time position until approximately August 1, 2019 or return of incumbent.

The Clinician works as part of a multidisciplinary team to provide assessment, treatment, consultation and follow-up services to mentally ill elderly clients of special complexity and difficulty, and their caregivers.

Build on your education and career experience as you:

  • Provide clinical services to geriatric clients by screening and completing comprehensive psychosocial assessments
  • Provide treatment planning and interventions using a variety of psychosocial treatment modalities, crisis intervention and family counselling through home visits and outreach
  • Collect collateral information for team assessments related to competency (personal and financial).
  • Maintain clinical and statistical documentation according to established policies and procedures
  • Facilitate client and caregiver utilization of appropriate community services by keeping knowledgeable about other services and liaising with them.
  • Provide deep understanding of relevant legislation (i.e. Mental Health Act, Adult Guardianship and Trustee Act, etc.)
  • Provide consultation and education to referral agencies, care facilities and care givers towards improved care of the elderly with mental illness and represents the team on local committees and advisory boards as required

To join this dynamic team you will have:

  • Master’s Degree in Social Work, Clinical Counselling or any health related discipline
  • Experience with Geriatric psychiatry clients in a recognized psychiatric and/or community mental health setting
  • Valid BC license and access to vehicle with business insurance coverage
