Health Care Support Worker in the Health Care Access Program (HCAP)
Eagle Ridge Manor, Port Moody
Megan joined Fraser Health as part of the Health Career Access Program (HCAP) – a 100% employer-paid work and training initiative for individuals seeking an entry point to employment in health care.
Currently working as a Health Care Support Worker at Eagle Ridge Manor – a long-term care facility in Port Moody, Megan is receiving the standardized training she needs to support her in growing her career into a Health Care Assistant.
““I am so grateful for the [HCAP] program. I was a hairstylist for 15 years and after an intense battle with cancer, I wanted to do something more meaningful with my time and life. This is a perfect fit! I have enjoyed growing and learning - I have learned many new skills that [help] me relate to my community and form lasting relationships with the residents I care for.”
Megan describes a day at work as “fun, heart-warming and busy.”
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my daughter. We like to go thrift shopping, hiking and crafting.”
We asked Megan what she does to keep healthy and well outside of work, “Journaling. I try to have a moment of self reflection at least once a day. I find it really helps to take things off my mind and put them on paper.”
We are delighted to hear about your recent career move, Megan! Thank you for bringing your career to health care and to Fraser Health.
