"I would love to tell you all about our post night shift hikes up the Hope Lookout, or maybe a winter snowshoe up Zoa Peak, or a summer BBQ on Kawkawa Lake, but that would only give you a small snapshot of how amazing this community is."

recruitment-photo-(1).jpg“I have been working at Fraser Canyon Hospital for nearly four years now. Hope is an amazing place to live and work. It is beautiful and bright, filled with luscious green forests, powerful rivers and cascading waterfalls.

Living and working in Hope, I have learned it’s quick and easy to escape some of the rainy spring days by heading up towards Manning Park (about 45 minutes southeast). I would often grab my bike or hiking boots and head out to explore. You can find excitement and adventure any time of the year in and around the community of Hope.

Comradery and friendship is what makes working at Fraser Canyon Hospital so rewarding - no one is a stranger here. I remember being new and finding it fascinating that almost everyone from the lab to nursing is on a first name relationship, including with our physicians. I quickly learned this close-working relationship is integral to the success of every department at Fraser Canyon Hospital.

One my favourite co-workers once said “chance made us co-workers, but laughter and fun made us friends!”

clinical-recruitment-photo.jpgOver the last four years I have been mentored not only by nurses, but also by physicians, lab technicians, and physiotherapists too! Someone is always available to answer my questions and to support and work with you to best meet your patient’s needs.

If you’re a newly graduated nurse thinking you need to consolidate your knowledge [at a larger site] before working in a smaller community hospital or transition to the emergency room, I’m here to tell you, Fraser Canyon Hospital could be your next adventure. All you need is an inquisitive mind, be ready to ask questions, and the motivation to jump in and learn hands-on!

What makes Fraser Canyon Hospital special is our team’s response throughout the challenging times of the COVID-19 pandemic. Our physician group and amazing leadership team have advocated and supported us through these challenging times. We have established many team health and wellness activities outside of work to help build morale and offer mentorship opportunities, too. This is what advocacy looks like: Sparking change through adversity, and we are so excited to be growing our team at Fraser Canyon Hospital!”
